Feb. 27th, 2014 10:31 pmThe most heartbreaking thing, besides experiencing Arthur's death once more, was seeing Albion and, really, all of Earth torn apart before his eyes.
He'd lasted so long over the years and his boarders kept ever expanding: first beyond Ealdor, then Camelot, then Albion, then the entire of the UK itself, and now beyond the world.
Merlin, sometimes Merrill when he wished to remain under the radar, didn't participate in the wars when the Alliance wanted to discipline the entire universe. It was bitter enough to see people fight over bits of rock floating in space. But he floated out to the outer bits of rock. Where lawlessness meant he could practice his magic without being noticed or sought after. Even found a planet much like Albion of his youth.
He had gone into the main city to purchase some supplies and groceries for the week when he happened to pass by the port. What sort of people were landing today? He barely had time to jump out of the way of a bubbling girl who was dragging a more chagrined man behind her.
Two more came out, looking familiar. Merlin ducked behind some people. Malcom Reynolds. Merlin had been at the battle of Serenity. Seen the man lead armies into battle and lost it all. He thought he lost Merlin too. But that was the funny thing about being immortal. Death wasn't constant.
